Our History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Les Catrems<\/strong> building was constructed at theOrci\u00e8res Merlette<\/strong> ski resort in the 1960s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, it was called the H\u00f4tel Les Estaris<\/strong>, one of the resort\u2019s very first hotels, and in 1968<\/strong> it hosted the Pierre Cardin<\/strong> fashion show, followed by the Tour de France on July 8, 1971<\/strong>, when Luis Oca\u00f1a pulled ahead of Eddy Merckx by nearly nine minutes<\/strong> at Orci\u00e8res-Merlette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current owners, Paul and H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Mathieu<\/strong>, have been running the establishment for more than 30 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have devoted their lives to their hotels, from the construction of the Montagnou in 1986<\/strong> to the renovation and transformation of the former Les Estaris hotel, now known as Les Catrems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At over 85 years<\/strong> old, Paul is still running his hotel; his guests affectionately call him \u201cGrandpa Manager.\u201d<\/strong> <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

You could put it that way… Paul et H\u00e9l\u00e8ne ont trois enfants, M\u00e9lanie, Maxime et Marcel Mathieu, d’o\u00f9 le nom \u00ab 4M \u00bb, gentiment et discr\u00e8tement transform\u00e9 en \u00ab Les Catrems \u00bb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Behind every stone and every decorative item lies a favorite item chosen by one of the children or parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, family stories intertwine with those of our guests: a father and his sons\u2014ski instructors who are passionate about the mountains; a daughter who loves flowers and happily helps decorate the hotel; a mother who takes it all in stride with a smile\u2026<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
